Well kinda...

Kinja'd!!!

I had to plasma cut 1000 lbs of plate steel at our other shop. Normally this wouldn’t be a big deal, but the building is currently under construction.

Kinja'd!!!

To get into the shop we drove through the construction site, no big deal. Now this shouldn’t really be the situation, as the construction company was supposed to leave a lane outside the fence, not inside it. However, they got greedy for space and ignored that, forcing access to the shop to drive through the site. You may see where this is going...

It took us several hours to cut down all of the plate and when we went to leave we found that the construction crew had left... and had locked the gate with us, and my truck, stuck inside.

We contemplated our options, and noticed that the pedestrian pathway around the site might be just wide enough to fit. So, with my friend spotting for me, I drove half on the grass through the gap. It necked down enough that I had to fold in the mirrors to squeeze through.

Kinja'd!!!

Wait... have I seen this image before?

We eventually got out, and laughed about how nothing ever seems to go right during the drive out to our temporary shop.

I wasn't aware it was possible to get locked inside a shop that has plasma tables and presumably portable plasma cutters and/or oxyacetylene equipment.

We closed the shop behind us, before we realized we were stuck. I did call a friend and informed him that he may have to bring out a set of bolt cutters if we couldn’t get out. I’d also rather not get the police called on me for property destruction.

It is kinda fun having a vehicle with more ground clearance than your average curb.

My DD does not so, yeah, it was pretty fun.

It’s one of the things I really like about my VR-4. I’ve never had a car that sits 7-8 inches off the ground. I feel like I can go anywhere.

Having the pickup has been nice, as the TA doesn’t have the clearance or sidewalls to tolerate curb hopping.
